"I am not an Oracle. But I heard what the seer Phineas told you in the city of Portland. You will face a sacrifice that you may not be able to make, and it will cost you the world. You have yet to face your fatal flaw, my brother. Look around. All works of gods and men eventually turn to ruins. Would it not be easier to flee into the depths with that girlfriend of yours?"
— Kymopoleia to Perseus Jackson[[{{{4}}}|[src]]]

Kymopoleia is the daughter of Poseidon and Amphitrite and Greek goddess of violent sea storms, as well as the Greek aspect of Eararrna. Unlike Kymopoleia's two siblings, she was never invited to see her parents due to Poseidon finding her presence disruptive. Kymopoleia wandered her father's abandoned domains instead as a result and was also unwillingly married off to her great-uncle Briares as a reward for his fighting in the Titanomachy. Kymopoleia was also rarely worshipped by mortals, by both the Greeks and the Romans, the latter of which thought of her as a "nameless fear" and a "sign of Neptune's greatest wrath".

During the Second Gigantomachy, as a result of being rejected by both mortals and her parents, Kymopoleia sided with Gaea and the Gigantes. However, Jason Grace managed to convince her to change sides and promised to begin to worship her at both Camp Half-Blood and Camp Jupiter. Kymopoleia then helped Grace kill Polybotes.

Abilities

As a daughter of Poseidon, Kymopoleia has sea-related abilities as well as the standard powers of a goddess.

  • Hydrokinesis: Kymopoleia can easily control and manipulate water, less than her father Poseidon but more than any single one of his demigod children.
  • Atmokinesis: As the goddess of violent sea storms, Kymopoleia can conjure sea-related storms, such as hurricanes and typhoons.
