"Oh, we've been patrolling for you all across the west, demigod, hoping we'd be the first to find you. The giant king will reward me well when he rises. I am Lyacon, king of the wolves. And my pack is hungry."
—Lycaon to Jason Grace

Lycaon was the king of Arcadia and the son of Pelasgus and the Oceanid Meliboea. After attempting to "test" his grandfather Zeus to prove his wisdom and immortality. An enraged Zeus transformed Lycaon into the first werewolf and killed forty-nine of his fifty sons.

During the Second Gigantomachy, Lycaon supported Gaea against Zeus and the Olympians and attempted to abduct Jason Grace but was wounded by the Hunters of Artemis and their silver arrows. Lycaon then attacked Nico di Angelo, Reyna Ramírez-Arellano, and Gleeson Hedge but the trio managed to shadow travel using Lycaon's shadow and escape.
