— Sciron introduces himself to Jason Grace and Hazel Levesque[[{{{4}}}|[src]]]

Skiron (Sciron) was a demigod[2] bandit son of Poseidon. He would demand payment and kill the people giving him said payment by feeding them to his giant turtle, Molly. Eventually, he was fed to Molly by his half-brother, Theseus. He was eventually let through the Doors of Death by his grandmother Gaea, who ordered him to steal the Athena Parthenos. However, he failed when he was outsmarted by Jason Grace, son of Jupiter, and Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto, with the latter manipulating the Mist to fool him, once again feeding him to his giant turtle.

Biography

Birth and early life

Sciron was born to Poseidon, Greek aspect of Alu and god of the sea and a mortal mother[2], presumably with deformed, unnatural, disgusting feet, around the year 991 BC. Sciron became skilled in both archery and marksmanship, so much that Hazel Levesque claimed that she would have thought his father was Apollo. He later tamed the giant turtle that he named Molly, thanks to his heritage.[3]

Life as a bandit

After taming Molly, Sciron became a bandit in Corinth. After stealing people's riches, he forced them to clean his disgusting feet, at which point he kicked them off the cliff they were on and into Molly's open mouth. Eventually, he was tricked by his half-brother Theseus, who pushed him off the cliff and fed him to Molly.

Post-mortem

Theseus had been on the way to Athens, where his "father" Aegeus (his father was either Poseidon or Aegeus; possibly both) was king. Later, Theseus went to Crete to kill Asterion II, the Minotaur, where he told the story of how he bested Sciron to King Minos and his children over dinner. Theseus succeeded and became king of Athens, slowly becoming tyrannical and loathed by his people. Theseus perished miserably in exile.

Return

Approximately three centuries later,[4] Sciron's great-grandmother Gaea brought him back to the mortal world through the Doors of Death. Gaea ordered him to steal the Athena Parthernos from the Demigods of Seven, but when the time came, he neglected to steal the statue. When he then ordered Jason Grace, son of Jupiter and Hazel Levesque, daughter of Pluto to wash his feet, Levesque used the Mist to feed Sciron to his turtle as Theseus did, once again killing Sciron.

Appearance

Sciron has curly black hair and "friendly-looking" green eyes to avoid suspicion. He usually wears high leather boots and leather breeches, with a pirate-style shirt, as well as a red bandanna, which he claims is to mask his identity. His feet are puffy, wrinkled, and very white. They are misshapen and have tufts of brown hair sprouting from them. His toenails are jagged and green and yellow. They are said to smell like a "cafeteria for zombies" by Hazel Levesque.[3]

Personality

Sciron: "(The bandanna is here) so no one recognizes me!"
Jason Grace: "But you (already) introduced yourself. You're Sciron."
Sciron: How did you—Oh. Yes, I supposed I did. Terribly sloppy of me. Sorry. I'm afraid I'm a little rusty. Back from the dead, and all that. Let me try again. Stand and deliver! I am an anonymous bandit, and you do not need to know my name!"

—Sciron and Jason Grace

Sciron acts friendly to deceive his victims and enjoys killing and overcoming them. He also admitted that he was "sloppy" and "a little rusty" after his death when it came to hiding his identity.

Abilities

  • Hydrokinesis: Sciron has limited power over water due to his father being Poseidon, but called it "terribly difficult work" and "not nearly as fun as ambushing and shooting people".[3].
    • Sea Animal Control: Sciron presumably has control over sea (and possibly equestrian) animals, to the point where his heritage allowed him to tame a giant turtle.
  • Marksmanship: Sciron is extremely skilled with his flintlock pistols, so much that Hazel Levesque claimed that she "would have thought (his father was) Apollo, the way (he shoots).
  • Archery: Sciron is also extremely skilled with bows and arrows.

Trivia

  • As it took approximately three centuries for Sciron to return,[4] it is unknown if he found Molly again after his death (giant turtles might have longer lifespans than regular turtles) or another.
  • Hazel Levesque claimed that she expected Sciron's father to be Apollo rather than Poseidon due to his extreme archery and marksmanship skills. Her boyfriend, Frank Zhang, was also highly skilled in archery, but was a son of Mars rather than Apollo.

Notes and references

  1. The Trojan War began around 1194 BC. Heracles and Theseus lived in the same time period, and Theseus was the one who killed Sciron. Heracles had died and went through apotheosis before the war, so Sciron must have died for the first time, as well as been born, before the war. (Heracles was still alive years later when Theseus was king of Athens.)
  2. 2.0 2.1 He was mortal and could be killed. As he returned through the Doors of Death, he is also not a monster. The only way this could have happened (except for extremely rare circumstances, as the one of Erikthonius's birth) was that his mother (as opposed to his immortal father) was mortal.
  3. 3.0 3.1 3.2 The House of Hades, chapter 27
  4. 4.0 4.1 Sciron was resurrected in 2010. The Trojan War began in 1194 BC. Using simple math, it can be deduced that Sciron had been dead for little less than 3204 years, and therefore around 3.1 millennia.
