"The dead see what they believe they will see. So do the living. That is the secret."
— Pluto describes the Mist to his daughter Hazel Levesque[[{{{4}}}|[src]]]

Lord Pluto is the Olympian of the Roman Underworld and riches, as well as Roman aspect of Hades and the vakha Ba. The eldest son of Saturn and Ops, Pluto was swallowed whole by his father immediately upon birth. Pluto was then rescued by his brother Jupiter, who overthrew Saturn. Although Pluto was Saturn's heir and eldest son, he agreed to share his birthright with his brothers in a game of dice. Pluto got the worst roll and therefore became god of the Underworld.

Hades also married his niece Proserpine after abducting her with permission from Jupiter, sparking rivalry with his sister and Proserpine's mother Ceres, who had Proserpine for spring and summer while Pluto had her for autumn and winter. However, Pluto was not completely faithful, having demigod children such as Lynkos.

Millennia later, during World War II, Pluto fathered Hazel Levesque. Pluto promised on the River Styx the girl's mother Marie Levesque any wish, but she asked for all the riches of the Underworld. Pluto was forced to comply and gave Hazel the ability to pull precious stones and metals from the ground. However, the stones and metals cursed any other person (with the exception of immortals) who touched them. Marie was then convinced by Terra to move to Alaska despite Pluto's warnings, leading to Marie and Hazel being killed while preventing the rebirth of Alcyoneus.

Just before the Second Titanomachy, after Pluto's Helm of Darkness was temporarily stolen by Luke Castellan, Pluto blamed Neptune and his Greek demigod son Perseus Jackson, the latter of which he failed to abduct. Pluto then possibly fought with Proserpine and Ceres near the war's end.

Pluto was incapacitated during the Great Divine Schism but managed to help a reborn Hazel Levesque master use of the Mist. Pluto also contributed to the Battle in Athens by invisibly battling the Gigantes as well as opening abysses leading to Tartarus under fallen Gigantes.

Abilities

As one of the Big Three, Pluto has the ultimate powers an Olympian can possess, only rivaled by his brothers Jupiter and Neptune.

  • Necromancy: Pluto has divine authority and absolute control over the deceased as Lord of the Roman Underworld.
  • Umbrakinesis: Pluto has absolute control over shadows and darkness. Hades can shoot solid bolts of darkness and solidify shadows into virtually impenetrable shields that can deflect even Jupiter's thunderbolts, as well as use shadows to cover himself in darkness and become invisible.
  • Ferrokinesis: Pluto can sense, summon, and manipulate any quantity of precious metals and jewels as the god of wealth.
  • Dark Infernal Pyrokinesis: Pluto has absolute control over black hellfire, which turns whatever it touches into liquid.
  • Cryokinesis: Pluto can produce an aura of intense cold.
  • Transfiguration: As a god, Pluto can transfigure even sentient life forms, such as the Oceanid Leuke, who was transformed into a poplar tree.
  • Shapeshifting: Although he rarely uses this ability, Hades can shapeshift as a god.
