Ares (Ancient Greek are: bane, ruin) is the Greek god of war and son of Zeus and Hera, as well as Greek aspect of Mars and the vakha Ohta. Ares was the first son of Zeus and Hera and twin brother of Enyo, with whom he had a son, Enyalius. Ares also began an affair with Aphrodite after her marriage to his half-brother Hephaestus, leading to Hephaestus catching this both in a golden net. Ares was also imprisoned in the Bronze Jar by the Alodai and helped Hephaestus and Heracles kill Mimas during the Gigantomachy. Ares also supported Troy during the Trojan War.

During the Second Titanomachy, Luke Castellan, son of Hermes, gave the stolen Master Bolt and Helm of Darkness to Ares and tricked him into keeping them to begin a war between Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. Perseus Jackson then defeated Ares and returned the Bolt and Helm to Zeus and Hades, respectively. Ares also blessed his daughter Clarisee la Rue with Ares's Blessing during the Battle of Manhattan and was incapacitated during the Great Divine Schism between himself and his Roman form Mars, leading their voices to argue inside Frank Zhang's head. In the Battle of Athens, Ares also helped Zhang kill numerous Gigantes when the Schism ended.

Notes and references

  1. Ares was born between his half-brother Apollo's birth, in 2602 BC, and the marriage between Zeus and Hera, no later than 2902 BC.
  2. Otrera is otherwise said to be Ares's daughter, but all Amazons are considered honorary demigod children of Ares.
