This house is the Imperial House of the Galra Empire. Its High Seat is currently Emperor Lotor of the Galra Empire, and its earliest known member is the Empire's late, previous emperor Zarkon.

History

The known history of this house goes back to circa 7715 BC. The earliest known member of this house was a Galra by the name of Zarkon, who had become Emperor of the Galra Empire and led a group formed between five warriors and leaders who allied with each other. Around that very year, a trans-reality comet crashed into the Galra planet Daibazaal. The comet continued to be studied, during which time Zarkon married the Altean alchemist Honerva. Honerva herself had a special lineage; she and her sister Jadis, as well as her brother Mitt'hraw'nuruodo, had been scattered across time and space. Another member of the alliance, King Alfor of Altea, created the Lions of Voltron. When Honerva's research led to the First Daibazaal Trans-Reality Incident, Alfor presented the lions to the group. By forming Voltron for the first time, the dangers of the Dark Reality were held at bay. Zarkon and Honerva, however, refused to allow Alfor to fully close the rift. As Zarkon's group was reformed into the Paladins of Voltron and faced many adventures together, Honerva noticed that her feline pet was very ill and infused him with quintessence from the Trans-Reality Rift. The two continued to study quintessence until it turned them physically and mentally unstable. Honerva became gravely ill, and Zarkon tricked the Paladins into expanding the rift so that he could heal Honerva. The two were killed by overexposure, and Alfor was forced to destroy Daibazaal. Unexpectedly, the changed Zarkon and Honerva reawakened. In retaliation for Alfor's actions, Zarkon killed his fellow Paladins and destroyed Altea.

Zarkon and Honerva parented a son named Lotor, but Zarkon eventually banished him for his failure to destroy a civilization of a planet whose people he had grown friendly to, seen by Zarkon as a weakness. Honerva eventually lost all her memories from her past life and took a new role as adviser and high priestess, under her new name of Haggar. Voltron would not resurface for the next 10,000 years, on May 12, 2314. With the help of Alfor's daughter Allura and the Altean royal adviser Coran, who had been preserved within cryogenic pods, a new group from Arda took the mantle of the Paladins of Voltron. Voltron managed to blow several major blows to the Empire, although Zarkon kept finding them via his former lion, the Black Lion. Its new paladin, Takashi Shirogane, ultimately defeated him in the Confrontation for the Black Lion and won the Lion's trust more fully. Zarkon's Black Bayard was taken by Shirogane during the Battle in Yggiz, which ended with Zarkon severely wounded.

Haggar placed Lotor in charge of the Galra Empire as emperor pro tem, claiming that it was on Zarkon's own request. Lotor desired to end the war by giving the Empire exactly what they wanted: unlimited amounts of quintessence. He lured the Paladins into the Altean Reality in order to take a trans-reality comet from them, then created Sincline ships from it. Around this time Zarkon reawakened and Haggar began to re-unlock her memories as Honerva. Zarkon dismissed Lotor and relieved him of his duties, and was labeled a traitor and criminal to be killed on sight. Lotor then allied with the Paladins in the Battle of Naxzela. During the Holt—Lotor Prisoner Exchange, Zarkon's 10,000-year reign of tyranny was finally ended as Lotor killed his father. The following Kral Vera coronation ceremony, Lotor defeated Sendak in the race to light the Fire of Feyiv and was formally crowned emperor.

Lotor had numerous adventures with the Paladins before resurfacing in Narmyt Myo, where he helped engineer new Sincline Plus Ships for Urgden's forces in Narmyt Myo during the Conquest of Arcturinus. Urgden's commander Naisha ordered the disguised Lotor killed, but Lotor escaped and proceeded to attack Urgden for control of Narmyt Myo.

Haggar's siblings Jadis and Mitth'raw'nuruodo (Thrawn) also proved important to the fate of at least three worlds. Jadis and Honerva had fought over the world of Charn. When Jadis destroyed the world using the Deplorable World, Honerva's essence was instantaneously moved to . She had caused some trouble on Altea before Alfor removed her memories of hostility, in the process forgetting the entire situation, as well as the rest of the Alteans. Afterwards, Jadis petrified herself and was reawakened by the human Digory Kirke. Jadis caused some damage in the city London of Eä's planet Arda before eating an Apple of Immortality in the Western Wild of Narnia and usurping Narnia's throne before her defeat by the forces of Aslan, a form of the Vala Manwé. Thrawn, on the other hand, became part of Eä's Chiss Ascendancy, and later Sheev Palpatine I's Galactic Empire as a Grand Admiral. During her rule of Narnia, Jadis also helped Palpatine transfer some of his quintessence into a boy on Arda by the name of Tom Marvolo Riddle, who, as Lord Voldemort, would infamously lead the Death Eaters. Thrawn in some way prevented the Galra from locating the Blue Lion of Voltron prematurely, and in the following millennia, Jadis, Thrawn, and Haggar made various alliances, betrayals, and had several skirmishes. Eventually, Jadis and Haggar joined the Ikturi and Thrawn began manipulating King Indenar Noldo of New Hogoland.
